Congratulations to our NPCTC vice president, Michelle Duane DNP, APRN, ANP-BC, AGACNP-BC, FNP-BC who was honored as our 2025 NP of the Year during the conference on Nov 8th.
Teena White, president of NPCTC, offered these remarks:
“Tonight, we celebrate someone who proves that passion for nursing can start long before nursing school—
in fact, Dr. Michelle Duane began her fascination with science back in the third grade, when she was dissecting lizards while most of us were still working on our handwriting.
That early curiosity grew into a calling — a 22-year journey of dedication, compassion, and leadership serving the Treasure Coast and beyond.
Michelle has been more than an outstanding nurse practitioner; she’s been an advocate, a mentor, a friend, and a leader for so many in this room tonight. Her voice has strengthened our profession, her example has inspired others to lead, and her heart has reminded us why we do what we do.
Just last fall, she capped her long list of achievements by earning her Doctorate in Nursing Practice, proving that lifelong learning is not just a phrase—it’s a way of life.
As a critical care nurse practitioner, Michelle has spent her career caring for the sickest patients across Southeast Florida—bringing skill, calm, and compassion to the most intense moments of human life. Her hands have saved lives, and her leadership has guided countless others to do the same.
In addition to her clinical and leadership excellence, Michelle has made a lasting mark through community outreach—organizing backpack drives, supporting local causes, and inspiring others to give back. As Vice President of the Nurse Practitioner Council of the Treasure Coast, she continues to motivate and mobilize the council to stay active, connected, and engaged in the community.
Today, Michelle leads a diverse team of advanced practice providers across the entire state of Florida for the Cleveland Clinic, where her leadership continues to elevate advanced practice, ensure APP's work is recognized and they are working to the top of their license.
Oh—and in case you thought that wasn’t enough—she’s also triple board certified. Because why stop at one when you can have three?
From the third-grade lizard lab to the Cleveland Clinic leadership table, Dr. Duane’s story is one of passion, perseverance, purpose—and a deep commitment to both her patients and her community.
It is with great honor that today we recognize Dr. Michelle Duane as the Nurse Practitioner Council of the Treasure Coast Nurse Practitioner of the Year 2025!”
