Treasure Coast, FL — August 27_, 2025 — The Florida Nurse Practitioner Network (FNPN) honored the late Dr. Karin Klause, DNP, APRN, with a memorial scholarship presented August 23, 2025, recognizing her extraordinary contributions as a nurse practitioner, community advocate, and leader.
Dr. Klause, who passed away unexpectedly in January 2025, was president of the Nurse Practitioner Council of the Treasure Coast, where she was a powerful voice for advancing the role of nurse practitioners and expanding access to care. Her leadership in the council inspired advocacy efforts that elevated nurse practitioners as vital providers across the region.
Beyond her leadership, Dr. Klause devoted more than 1,000 volunteer hours at Volunteers in Medicine in Stuart, Florida, providing compassionate care primarily in women’s health. Patients and colleagues alike were uplifted by her joyful presence, often arriving to clinic on Fridays singing, “It’s Friday, it’s Friday!” with a smile that set the tone for the day.
“Karin embodied the true spirit of service,” shared her fellow council members. “She championed nurse practitioner practice, mentored peers, and made patients feel safe and valued. Her impact was felt not only in the clinic, but also in the policies and advocacy efforts she advanced through our council.”
The memorial scholarship created in her name reflects both her commitment to volunteerism and her advocacy for nurse practitioners. With her family, including her husband Tom, in attendance, FNPN and the Treasure Coast NP Council celebrated her legacy during the scholarship ceremony.
Through this honor, Dr. Klause’s passion for advancing nurse practitioner leadership, her dedication to women’s health, and her unwavering commitment to community service will continue to inspire future generations.
