The Untimely Passing of Our President, Dr Karin Klause

Hello NPCTC Members.
Karin passed away peacefully after a brief battle with cancer. She is dearly missed by her BOD, friends, and colleagues.
Karin Elizabeth Klause
May 21, 1961 – January 10, 2025
Karin Elizabeth Klause DNP APRN FNP-C, passed away on Friday, January 10, 2025, with her family by her side.

Karin was born on May 21,1961 in Norwalk CT.

She is survived by her husband Thomas L Klause (Tom), son Eric Martin Klause and his wife Sheena Marie Klause, grandsons Keaton Hickman and Tanner Hickman, granddaughter Kiersten Mae Klause, sister in laws Katie Newitt (Andy Newitt) and Lee Franc (Bob Franc), and her second cousin, Linda C Ekblad.

Karin began her education as an Emergency Medical Technician, followed soon after as a Paramedic in the state of Florida. She began her working career at JFK Ambulance in Lake Worth, FL as a Paramedic. She then worked for many years at Martin County EMS again as a paramedic and later as a Firefighter/Paramedic.

Then began a lifelong career and Education in Nursing. She obtained her Nursing degree (BSN) from FAU. She then attended Emory University in Atlanta for one year to study and obtain her Wound, Ostomy, Continence degree. She worked at Jupiter Medical Center as a Registered Nurse. After this, she earned her Master’s Degree in Nursing from FAU. Then she continued her education to become a Nurse Practitioner from FAU. In addition, after a lifelong thirst for knowledge and education, she earned a Doctoral Degree in Nursing Practice from The University of Birmingham, Alabama. (UAB). She was also an adjunct Clinical Professor for graduate Nursing/ Family nurse Practitioner program at FAU.

Karin was a founding member and Current President of the Nurse Practitioner Council of the Treasure Coast. This was her passion. She was also the Chairperson of the scholarship committee of the Florida Nurse Practitioner Network,

For years, she volunteered at (VIM) Volunteers in Medicine in Stuart. She loved this ‘job’ as one of giving back to the less fortunate and underserved in her community.

Interests were traveling all over the country in their various motorhomes, which they did together for so many years, love of camping and attending NASCAR races, as well as our LOVE of going on cruises. Also members of the Prevost Motorcoach Club as well as Road Hogs Motorcycle and Motorhome club.

She loved their summer home in Petoskey MI but loved their new summer home in Franklin, NC.

She will be missed by all.
