Nurse Practitioner Program at FAU/Harbor Branch Campus In Need of Preceptors for Women’s Health and Pediatrics This Spring!

The nurse practitioner program at the Harbor Branch campus of Florida Atlantic University's Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing is in urgent need of clinical preceptors in Pediatrics and Women’s Health.  In addition to primary care clinical hours, Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) students are required to complete a minimum of 100 hours in each of these clinical practice areas. Over the course of a 16-week semester (January - May), that’s a minimum of just one day a week - although, students can be flexible and do more hours over a shorter amount of time!  If you can only provide 50 hours, that’s ok! Students may split hours between semesters. Please, consider sharing your knowledge and expertise with these students so that they can learn from the most experienced NPs to become excellent advanced practice nurse professionals, just like you!

Preceptors are especially needed in Space Coast and Treasure Coast locations, however, students are willing to travel to receive excellent clinical experiences! The hours that you precept a student are widely accepted towards renewal requirements for many NP certifications, and may be used towards credit hours for furthering your nursing education at many of our state’s universities. If you’d like to precept a student (or two!), or if you would like more information, please call my cell (561) 789-6717 or send an email to harrisn@health.fau.edu

Thank you for all that you do!

Sincerely,

Nancy Harris, DNP APRN FNP-BC
